We have the right to take a stand on issues that are important to us. We can make a difference. We have a voice that needs to be heard.
What we can do:
Arrange a march at City Hall and wear black T-shirts to represent how many people die from smoking each year
Talk to City Council and say you want more smoke-free places.
Write letters to tobacco advertisers. They know that today's teens are tomorrow's profit.
Organize a boycott of stores that sell cigarettes to teens.
Ask your Student Council to invite health groups to your school to speak about smoking
Don't be a victim!
If you have been sucked into smoking, help others not get sucked into it.
Turn your anger into positive action
Make the tobacco companies pay!! Support the Youth Tobacco Prevention Act (Bill S-15) by writing your Member of Parliament – tell them what you want to see changed.
Action on Smoking and Health... reveals the deceitful tactics of the tobacco industry and takes hard-hitting actions to fight smoking and protect non-smokers.
