YETI Bear Homeroom CHALLENGE!
11/22/2007 -
Who got involved?
The Thunder Bay schools that participated in Project YETI-Bear are Hillcrest High School through their Student Council. The winning class won a Pizza party for the students who brought in the most donations. St. Patrick's High School held a contest, for every stuffed toy brought in by a student they received a ballot with the chance to enter and win a great prize. Hammorskjold High School also held a home room challenge with the help of the Youth in Action group, the winning homeroom received a Pizza party.
We are also pleased to have collaborated with Lakehead University's Leave the Pack Behind. They had a drop off box for stuffed toy animal donations at their booth set up on campus.
The Thunder Bay Figure Skating Club held a drive for Canskate and PreJunior skaters from November 18th until December 1st. A booth was set up at the beginning of each session for children to bring in donations and have the chance to win a great prize. The club dressing room also had a drop off bin for figure skaters of all ages and levels.
People could have checked out the Brodie Resource Library for a festive display. It had information on secondhand smoke and how children can be protected. There was a drop off box at this location throughout the campaign.
If you didn't attend one of these schools and wanted to get involved, a drop off box located at the Thunder Bay District Health Unit collecting toys in good condition from the public was also available.
Thank you to all who got involved and spread some Holiday Joy! The message these bears brought are priceless.
