Nicotine Withdrawal
02/04/2007 -
One big factor that goes hand-in-hand with addiction is WITHDRAWAL. Nicotine withdrawal is both physical and psychological and are very tough to ignore, often causing people who are trying to quit to backslide.
Some nicotine withdrawal symptoms include:
- Irritability
- Impatience
- Hostility
- Anxiety
- Depressed mood
- Difficulty concentrating
- Restlessness
- Decreased heart rate
- Increased appetite or weight gain
Spit tobacco can be just as, if not more, difficult to quit than cigarettes, as each tin of spit tobacco has as much nicotine as 3 - 4 packs of cigarettes.
YETI highly recommends not starting either in the first place, but if you do use tobacco industry products and are trying to quit you can get help by calling the Canadian Cancer Society's Smokers' Helpline at 1 877 513-5333 or checking out other quit resources through your public health unit.
