Many youth start smoking to lose weight. Although smoking is an appetite suppressant, people who smoke are more likely to have excess belly fat and on average, there are more overweight smokers than non-smokers.
Although there is a likelihood of some weight gain after quitting smoking, this is usually temporary, and the health benefits of quitting far outweigh the risks. No pun intended.
